Welcome

by Andrew Brown on 1 March, 2014

Hi,

Welcome to my blog.

I’ll be using it to share stories of local interest in Windmill Hill Ward (which encompasses Windmill Hill and Totterdown as well as parts of Knowle and Bedminster) and reports and thoughts on various city-wide issues.

First, though, a few words about myself.

I grew up in Scotland but have been in the South West for a good number of years now, having moved with work, and feel really at home in South Bristol. When I first came to Bristol, I lived near Victoria Park and I’m now in Totterdown. It’s a fantastic part of the City to be in: close enough to walk to the City Centre, lots of parks to enjoy and friendly, involved communities.

It was not long after I settled here that I met Mark and Alf, the local Councillors – and their enthusiasm and dedication to the area have been an inspiration. Both are true local champions, who put the community before party politics. Alf is standing down from the role in May – due to advancing years and health reasons – and I’m honoured to have been selected to stand in his place. If elected, I will continue in the same vein of action in – and for – the community.

My three core aims will be to:

1. Stand up for our Community – in the Council House and the Media

2. Work with the Mayor for the benefit of the ward (and challenge him when he acts against them).

3. Fix your problems – by dealing with your issues efficiently when you contact me.

Over the coming weeks and months, I’ll be posting regularly on relevant issues. In the next few days, there will be posts on the Council Budget, your latest Windmill Hill Focus, the roll-out of 20mph zones and the Arena.

If you’ve got any questions, though, you can contact me at andrewcbrownuk@gmail.com .
