Have your say on the future of our parks

by Andrew Brown on 4 November, 2014

Last night, I was at the Victoria Park Action Group executive meeting.

As part of a packed agenda, there was a presentation from the local Community Safety Officer of the council about their consultation on the Maintenance of Parks and other Green Spaces. This is being conducted ahead of the Council taking direct control of this responsibility early next year.  The Victoria Park Action Group have submitted a collective response – but individual responses are also invited, for all the parks you use.

Around £500,000 of savings are required across the city – so the next stage of the process will be for the council officers to propose maintenance plans for all the individual parks, taking the responses provided into account. At that stage various park groups, and other interested parties, will be consulted on the specific proposals.

The consultation has technically closed, but they are still accepting responses for the next few days. Please help inform the future of the parks in our communities by completing the survey. It’s very short and simply asks you to rank different aspects of park maintenance in order of priority. Complete a separate one for each Park you want to comment on.
